Summer updates

I've been meaning to sit down all summer and update. Things here are good, we've been staying busy with work and projects and such :)

We made the somewhat random purchase of a boat sometime in June. We stopped to look at boats one day, mostly just to waste time and dream about the one we would someday own, and ended up finding a used boat that would be perfect for us to start out with! Thank goodness we purchased it from the marina because it ended up having a few parts needing replaced before it made it to us, which they paid for and replaced, it just meant waiting another month for the boat! It was a long wait... but it's here now, and we LOVE it! We keep it at a storage place and in 20 min we can be in it on Geist and spend the afternoon on the lake! We had hopes of towing it somewhere for a weekend getway this summer but we just never managed to line up our weekends off together.

My sisters came for the weekend two weeks ago. It was so great to see them and spend time with them, as short as it was :( Sometimes I think it only makes me miss them more! It seems so rare anymore to have the three of us together at one time. Dad made a trip down and we invited the Ketchams for a cookout. It was great to see everyone- although it was horribly hot out that day!

And here is a completed picture of the bathroom... finally! :) I love it and I'm so proud of the work we did ourselves. There is finally a little more extra room in the shower and a little shelf for storage/shaving (priorities, right?! :), and it's not near as dingy as it was before!! :)

Of course now that the bathroom is done we moved on to a new project (I know, I'm totally addicted to it now! :) We needed to pull out the carpet in the dining room- mostly thanks to a cat named Tommy who thought he could pee in there. So we yanked out the pee soaked cartpet and padding (and it smelled even more gross than that just sounded) as well as the wooded-or so we thought- entry way. We wondered why there were gaps inbetween the "wood" when we moved it. Other people would look at it and suggest it was the humidifier, poor job, etc. Well it turns out they were actually planks of peel and stick linoleum! Boy were those a pain in the butt to get off the slab! So we've quickly got some new flooring down- just need to finished a few planks and put some trim in. Hmmm, what should we do next? :)
